How to pay for Facebook, Google and TikTok ads from Pakistan
You get paid in dollars. Meta charges you in dollars. So why does your money spend a week as rupees in between?
You can pay for Meta, Google and TikTok ads from Pakistan with a local debit or credit card that has international payments switched on, or with a USD card. A local card converts rupees to dollars on every charge and carries a bank foreign transaction fee and advance income tax. A USD card funded with dollars you earned skips the conversion.
The usual route, and where it leaks
Most Pakistani freelancers, agencies and store owners earn some or all of their income in USD. The usual route looks like this:
- A client or platform pays you in USD.
- It arrives in a Pakistani bank account and is converted to PKR.
- You pay Meta or Google with a PKR card.
- The bank converts PKR back to USD and charges for it.
You pay for two conversions on money that started and ended in dollars.
What paying with a Pakistani card involves
Limits and settings. State Bank of Pakistan rules let each person spend up to USD 30,000 a year on cross-border card payments, counted across all their cards and banks, with the year starting on 1 November (SBP FE Circular 7 of 2022, 8 Nov 2022). The same circular says cards issued to individuals shouldn't be used for commercial cross-border payments. For business payments, SBP lets banks issue corporate cards instead, so ask your bank about one if you pay for a company's ads. Many banks also need you to switch on international use before the first payment.
Tax. Card payments abroad carry advance income tax under section 236Y. From 1 July 2026 it's 0.5% if you're on the Active Taxpayers List and 1% if you're not (FBR withholding tax rate card, tax year 2027). It was 5% and 10% until June 2026, so older articles and some bank pages still show those rates. Filers can adjust it against their final tax.
Tax on the ads themselves. Google's tax page still says a 5% tax applies to its digital services in Pakistan under the Finance Act 2018, and that customers may need to deposit it themselves (Google Ads Help, checked November 2026). Budgets since then have changed the rates on offshore digital services more than once, so confirm your position with a tax adviser. A separate 5% digital presence tax from the Finance Act 2025 was switched off from 1 July 2025 (The News, 31 Jul 2025).
FX fees. Banks add a foreign transaction fee on top of their exchange rate. Published schedules from major banks show around 4% on PKR debit and credit cards (example schedule, Jul to Dec 2026).
None of this is a reason not to advertise. It's a reason to know what each dollar of ad spend costs you before Meta sees it.

- UK and European clients pay to a GBP or EUR IBAN.
- Upwork. See How to send money from Upwork to nsave.

Set your ad account to bill in USD
A USD card only avoids fees if the ad account bills in USD. On a PKR ad account, every charge is converted and nsave's 1% to 1.5% FX fee applies. Read Should your Meta ad account be in USD or PKR? before you change anything.
Platform by platform
Meta (Facebook and Instagram). Add the card under Billing & payments in Ads Manager. If a payment fails, Meta pauses delivery until you pay the balance. What to do when a Meta payment fails.
Google Ads. Add the card under Billing in your Google Ads account. Google fixes the account currency at setup and doesn't let you change it, so choose USD when you create the account.
TikTok. TikTok Ads Manager was reported to have launched for Pakistani advertisers in December 2025 (TechJuice). Check the billing options your account offers and pick USD if you can. See TikTok ads payment methods in Pakistan.
