How to pay for Facebook, Google and TikTok ads from Egypt
You set the campaign live at 10pm. By 10:05 Meta says the payment failed because your card hit its foreign currency limit for the month.
Short answer: you can pay for Meta, Google and TikTok ads from Egypt with a local card that allows international online payments, within the foreign currency limit your bank sets. A local card converts EGP to USD on every charge. A USD card funded with dollars you earned skips the conversion.
The usual route, and where it leaks
- A client or platform pays you in USD.
- It arrives in an Egyptian bank account and may be converted to EGP.
- You pay Meta or Google with an EGP card.
- The bank converts EGP back to USD and charges for it.
Two conversions on money that started and ended in dollars.
What paying with an Egyptian card involves
Foreign currency limits. In August 2025, following Central Bank of Egypt directives, major banks eased foreign currency card rules, and some raised international card limits to as much as USD 10,000 (Business Today Egypt, 13 Aug 2025). Limits are still set by each bank and differ by card tier. At some banks, EGP debit and prepaid cards still can't be used for payments outside Egypt, so foreign online payments go on a credit card (Banque Misr usage limits, Sep 2026).
FX fees. Major banks cut their credit card FX fee from 5% to 3% in August 2025 (Business Today Egypt, 13 Aug 2025). That 3% is charged on top of the exchange rate.
VAT on ads. Meta and Google add 14% VAT to Egyptian ad accounts that haven't added both a Tax Registration Number and a Unique Identification Number. Google started in July 2024 and Meta in November 2024 (Google Ads Help; Meta Business Help).

Platform by platform
Meta. Add the card under Billing & payments in Ads Manager. What to do when a Meta payment fails.
Google Ads. Add the card under Billing. Google fixes the account currency at setup and doesn't let you change it, so choose USD when you create the account.
TikTok. Egyptian advertisers can create ad accounts themselves and pay in USD by card. The currency can't be changed after setup, so choose USD. See TikTok ads payment methods in Egypt.
